Job Purpose

Provide assistance to the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Deputy Data Protection Officer in mitigating the occurrence of data protection/privacy breaches and maintaining company compliance with data protection/privacy regulations and guidance. Working under the overall direction of the Head of Privacy and Data Protection, and as a member of the Risk and Compliance team provides cover and support, where necessary, for others in the wider team.
Key Accountabilities
- Working with the Risk and Compliance team, provide accurate and timely advice, guidance and training to the business on data protection and privacy related matters to ensure the business follows the appropriate regulations, internal policies and standards.
- Lead the review of internal policies, guidance, and promotional literature, in relation to any necessary references to data protection and privacy, to ensure compliance with UK legislation/regulation and group-wide standards is maintained.
- Provide advice on, and where appropriate lead the drafting of responses to Subject Access Requests under the Data Protection Act, liaising with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in relation to data privacy complaints as necessary.
- Review privacy breaches and incident reports. Advise and support Privacy Representative’s (i.e. nominated individuals within the business and designated Risk & Compliance Specialists or Business Partners) investigations and resolution of privacy breaches, both within and outside our business to ensure the business minimises such events.
- Monitor developments in relation to forthcoming European Data Protection regulation and provide advice on actions to assist implementation planning.
- Produce and analyse data privacy related management information, ensuring data privacy incidents and near misses are recorded in the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) framework.
- Cross train in compliance MI requirements and other relevant administration tasks to provide cover for other analysts within the wider Risk and Compliance team.

Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills


• Extensive knowledge of current and forthcoming regulatory requirements in relation to Data Protection (including the FCA Handbook and ICO Guidance).
• A proven track record in data protection oversight.
• A good understanding of different data protection governance models and controls, with particular reference to the financial sector.
• Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, ability and confidence to engage with colleagues throughout the business and at all management levels.
• Excellent report writing skills.
• Excellent oral communication that can adapt to the audience.
• Good attention to detail.

Qualifications:
Have or currently studying for a financial services or regulatory qualification
GCSE Maths and English essential
