Introduction to the role
The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has an exciting opportunity for a creative and detail-oriented individual to help drive forward the company’s marketing and communications activities and member engagement strategy. Reporting to the Head of Communications, the role has a broad and varied remit encompassing external communications and digital marketing delivery.
You will bring your expertise to bear generating digital content, partnering with the business to design marketing and communications campaigns that align with our strategic priorities. These campaigns play an integral role in helping the Lloyd’s insurance market to navigate the significant change and digitisation being experienced.
This position provides scope to bring new ideas to the fore in relation to promoting forthcoming Academy programmes, website redesign, as well as production of video and podcast content to raise the profile of LMA initiatives, such as our Legal Trainee scheme.
Job purpose
The Communications Executive will play a key role in shaping and delivering the company’s marketing and communications efforts. The role involves developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies and requires an individual with a keen willingness to collaborate within a team environment, working across a number of internal teams and with our external members.
You will be responsible for ensuring an excellent member experience by providing the delivery of external communications, ensuring the LMA’s activities are communicated effectively.
Key accountabilities
* Working with subject matter experts to generate content for the LMA’s digital channels, including technical blogs, thought leadership reports, videos, podcasts, social media, etc. that reflect and promote the LMA’s priorities.
* Creating visually engaging content for use across emails, website, LinkedIn and X.
* Preparing and delivering regular email newsletters, bulletins and event invitations for segmented audiences.
* Developing and implementing email marketing campaigns, building automated email journeys to improve member experience and engagement.
* Coordinating and updating our website content, keeping it current and up to date. Making enhancements so it provides a valuable, engaging information resource for our members.
* Monitoring and analysing member engagement data and making recommendations for optimising communications and content based on engagement data.
* Coordinating media activities alongside the LMA’s appointed PR agency.
* Providing support and guidance to colleagues on communications strategies in a well-written and timely manner to ensure that messaging is effective and reaches the right audiences.
* Delivering inductions to new employees on the role of Communications and providing training as needed.
* Identifying opportunities to initiate new LMA projects to the advantage of LMA’s membership and, where appropriate, lead and drive such projects.
* Building good working relationships with external stakeholders, e.g. Lloyd’s, other market associations, communications peers and other key stakeholders.
* Keeping up to date with new channels and technology relating to communications.
* Responding to LMA member (and other relevant) enquiries/requests for assistance in a timely manner.
* Maintaining current knowledge of initiatives and developments within the LMA, Lloyd’s, and other key areas of the insurance market.
* In addition to the above key requirements, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the LMA may reasonably require.
Education and qualifications
The role requires individuals of graduate or A-level calibre. Marketing and/or Communications-related degree or diploma (e.g. CIM, CAM or CIPR) would be beneficial, however, not a prerequisite.
General skills/qualities
* High standard of writing, editing and proofreading.
* Excellent attention to detail and quality.
* Experience using email marketing software, e.g. Mailchimp.
* Design skills and experience using design software, e.g. Canva, Adobe.
* Experience of tracking metrics, monitoring and reporting on the performance of content across communications channels.
* Experience in creating customer journeys.
* Proficiency in using analytics tools including Google Analytics 4.
* Knowledge of search engine optimisation (SEO) principles and techniques.
* Proficiency in social media platforms, digital marketing tools, e.g. Hootsuite, Buzzsprout and content management systems.
* Experience in video and podcast production desirable.
* Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships and influence others at all levels internally and externally, being flexible in approach and having the courage to challenge when appropriate.
* Resilient and adaptable style, responding positively and adapting to changing demands, objectives and priorities.
* Comfortable taking ownership for work, prioritising and completing work to appropriate deadlines, while working effectively within a team.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft programmes: Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience
Proven experience in a communications, marketing or digital marketing role. Previous experience of working in financial/insurance sector, ideally gained within the London insurance market, desirable yet not essential.
