Aila is working in exclusive partnership with a progressive & sustainably focused SME in West London as they look to hire a Financial Controller to join their team on a permanent basis, reporting directly into the CEO and managing a small finance team of 2.

The business has re-focused its attention and direction in the last 12 months towards organic and sustainable growth in an industry and space that is continuing to expand.

This is an autonomous and leadership focused role, where you’ll be the main point of contact in finance, responsible for the monthly management accounting and taking lead on any commercial activity & P&L analysis, whilst mentoring and coaching a small team of 2.

Based in Park Royal, with a 4/1 hybrid structure in place, this will suit somebody looking for a role where they can take control of finance in an organisation that has plenty of opportunity to expand and continue to take market share. Revenue is c.£20m and they are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller that supports the senior leadership team, helping to drive business performance and scale organically.

You will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of the organisation, ensuring efficient financial operations, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:
* Month end reporting, including management of the overall month end process and detailed review of P&L
* Ownership of general ledger, including oversight over all accounts, allocations and coding
* Understanding of the P&L, including detailed review and understanding of all costs below contribution
* Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s goals
* Prepare detailed financial reports, forecasts, and budgets
* Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas of improvement
* Oversee the preparation and management of the annual budget
* Monitor and report on budget performance, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives
* Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements
* Implement controls and processes to complete month-end
* Coordinate month-end, quarterly and year-end close processes
* Monitor cash flow and liquidity to ensure the company can meet its financial obligations
* Develop cash flow forecasts and strategies to maintain optimal cash reserves
* Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies
* Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture

This will suit an experienced Accountant with a hands-on approach and previous experience operating at Controller or Manager level within a similar sized, fast-paced SME organisation.
