Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a difference in the housing sector? Are you skilled in housing management and looking for a temporary opportunity? Our client, a leading provider in the housing sector, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Housing Officer to join their team.
As a Housing Officer, you will play a vital role in managing and maintaining the organisation’s housing stock. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the timely and efficient allocation of properties, as well as managing tenancy agreements and resolving any housing-related issues that may arise. You will also work closely with other departments within the organisation to provide support to tenants and ensure the delivery of excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conducting housing assessments and carrying out property inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Managing the allocation and letting of properties, including advertising vacancies, processing applications, and completing all necessary paperwork.
* Developing and maintaining effective relationships with tenants, providing relevant advice and support on tenancy-related matters.
* Investigating and resolving tenancy breaches and dealing with anti-social behaviour in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.
* Liaising with external contractors and agencies to arrange repairs and maintenance works.
* Assisting with income collection, managing arrears, and taking appropriate action to minimise rent arrears.
* Keeping accurate records and ensuring all administrative tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in housing management, ideally within the social housing sector.
* Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Housing Act, Tenancy Law, and Health and Safety regulations.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
* Proficient IT skills, including the use of housing management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
* A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Contract Details:
This is a temporary position, with an hourly rate ranging from £17.90 to £18.85. The role is set to start ASAP and is expected to last for 12 weeks. Working on a full-time basis.
