What it’s like to work here You’ll be reporting to The Visitor Operations and Experience Manager, working in a team of 38 staff and over 200 volunteers, at Beningbrough Hall near York.
Beningbrough Hall attracts over 150,000 people a year to visit the Baroque hall, Reddihough galleries and the garden. Each year we host changing exhibitions on the first floor in the gallery and The Botanical World of Mary Delany opens in September. On the ground floor we tell the story of the people who lived and worked at Beningbrough; and the garden is being transformed by Andy Sturgeon, a leading garden designer, with the Mediterranean Garden opening this summer. It is an exciting time to join the team as we develop the property. Beningbrough is part of the York portfolio and you will have colleagues at Treasurer’s House and Goddards Garden.
What you’ll be doing As our Volunteering and Community Officer, you’ll be supporting the wider team by exploring and building links with the local community. You’ll help to make this a flexible, positive and inclusive place for partners, community groups and current and future volunteers to get involved. This may mean helping to run established community-led events, as well as coming up with new ideas for activities. You will play a leading role in organising the Spring briefings for the portfolio, an event over several days where we update over 400 volunteers and 70 staff members
You’ll develop new ways of working together, and deepen relationships with existing and new audiences. You’ll also help to hone the skills our teams need in order to welcome and work with all kinds of people.
