Job Description:
Family Solicitor/CILEx Lawyer - Guildford - NQ-2 PQE
We are currently seeking a Family Solicitor/CILEx Lawyer to join a specialist Family Team at a Top 100 law firm for their Guildford office.
The position of Family Solicitor/CILEx Lawyer primarily involves providing support to the Partner and Senior Associates on complex, higher-value, and protracted matters. You will also have the opportunity to build your own caseload of matters suited to your level of experience.
Our client is a highly regarded organisation that has received recognition in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. Known for their supportive and collaborative approach, our client’s team is dedicated to achieving the right outcomes for their clients.
As part of our client’s large and experienced team, you will handle high-net-worth and complex matters. With offices across the UK, our client is ideally positioned to serve clients in the HNW hubs of London and the Home Counties.
The scope of work handled by our client’s team includes:
1. Finance: Dealing with HNW and UHNW financial remedy matters, both in and out of the court system. These cases often involve trusts, non-marital assets, business structures, pensions, inherited wealth, and volatile assets such as stocks and shares. International clients are common, adding an international element to many cases.
2. Family agreements: Drafting pre or post-nuptial agreements for clients, as well as securing "mirror" agreements in other jurisdictions where appropriate.
3. Non-court dispute resolution: Encouraging and recommending the route of non-court dispute resolution, including collaborative law and mediation.
4. Accord: Introducing a streamlined scheme that allows clients who are not in conflict to instruct the same lawyer to handle their divorce or separation, along with related financial and children matters.
5. Modern families: Specialising in cohabitation agreements and financial remedy applications for cohabitants, including Schedule 1 and TLATA. Additionally, our client is a leading authority in surrogacy matters.
6. Child abduction: Being part of the ICACU panel permits our client’s team to act for parents whose children have been abducted from abroad to the jurisdiction of England and Wales. These cases require extensive collaboration with experts both nationally and internationally to ensure the safe return of the child to their home.
To be considered for this role, you should be a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with prior experience in Family Law. We are particularly interested in candidates familiar with complex financial matters and international children disputes. While the position is open to individuals with varying levels of experience, it is estimated to suit someone with between 0-2PQE.
In addition to your legal expertise, our client values individuals who are engaged in marketing and business development activities. The successful candidate will work in adherence to the Resolution Code of Practise, demonstrating a calm and proactive approach to work and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
Our client is committed to a human-first approach and seeks candidates who share this mindset. Excellent communication skills, a passion for helping clients achieve their goals, and the ability to think creatively are highly valued.
This full-time position offers a flexible working arrangement, with a split between working from home and in the office. Our client is open to considering alternative working patterns that support work/life balance.
In return for your skills and dedication, our client offers a competitive salary, clear paths to progression, realistic billing targets, a supportive and encouraging working culture, manageable caseloads and excellent work/life balance.
Join our client’s team and become part of an organisation with top-tier rankings in the legal industry, exceptional quality of work, and a reputation as one of the best law firms to work for. With over 450 dedicated professionals and ample opportunities for advancement and personal development, your career will thrive in this environment.
