Alexander Daniels are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant on behalf of a large distribution business based in Walsall on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting into the Financial Controller and working as part of a small and friendly team, you will take ownership for the VAT and statutory accounts preparation for the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure accurate and timely preparation of VAT returns.
* Monitor and implement changes in VAT legislation to ensure compliance.
* Provide advice on VAT-related matters to internal stakeholders.
* Conduct regular bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
* Oversee the preparation and posting of accruals and prepayments.
* Work closely with budget holders to ensure accurate forecasting.
* Monitor and analyse actual vs. budgeted expenses.
* Support with the preparation of statutory financial statements.
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with auditors during the audit process.
The ideal candidate will hold either an AAT qualification or a degree in Accounting & Finance (or related field) with a view to studying towards a professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or equivalent (candidates who are not qualified but hold the relevant experience are also encourgaed to apply). You must have proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the distribution, warehousing or logistics industries, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
