Cedar is partnering with a leading higher education institution to recruit an interim Research Finance Officer to join the post-award team in the South East. The post-holder will be pivotal in providing post-award management support across a dynamic portfolio of externally funded projects.
Rate: £22 - £24 per hour
Location: South East
Hybrid Pattern: 1-2 days on site per week
Contract Length: 5 months with potential extension
Responsibilities
* Deliver support and advice to academics and research funders across the post-award life cycle.
* Manage a portfolio of research awards for an array of funding bodies and ensure compliance with funder terms & conditions and budgets.
* Oversee all financial and administrative duties for externally funded projects within the department.
* Act as the first point of contact for all internal and external queries across the relevant portfolios and action efficiently.
* Monitor project budgets and income & expenditure and raise variances
* Spearhead the preparation and approval of financial documentation and process payments.
* Drive and affirm compliance with funders audit requirements.
* Financially approve studentships and tuition fees in line with project budgets.
* Contribute to discussions on continuous improvement of financial processes and procedures.
* Represent post award administration in regular meetings with Departments and Faculties and uphold effective relationships with external funding bodies.
Requirements
* Part qualified accountant with previous experience working within higher education and ideally research finance.
* Understanding of financial regulations in relation to research and grants
* Excellent communication skills and IT proficiency.
