UPP, the leading infrastructure and services partner to UK Universities, is looking to appoint the role of Operations Director to lead the North & Central regions.

UPP is the UK’s leading provider of on-campus residential and academic accommodation infrastructure, operating over 35,000 rooms in partnership with 15 world-leading universities across the UK. UPP has forged a powerful reputation for driving innovative, student-led approaches to campus accommodation, working closely with their university partners, offering bespoke, end to end expertise and support for the lettings process to ensure maximum occupancy and revenue each year. This role will partner with 7 Universities in Nottingham, Leeds, Loughborough, Hull, Lancaster & York with circa.15,500 rooms.

The Operations Director is a key strategic role within the Residential Services (RS) business and the broader UPP senior leadership team. Providing effective strategic leadership, foresight and focus on delivery to ensure that the RS business accomplishes the requirements of the corporate strategy, actively contributing towards UPP’s strategic ambition and execution plan. Taking a long-term view of business success, translating the 3-year corporate strategy into tangible deliverables for the RS business unit to deliver. Balancing these longer-term business improvements with consistently meeting in-year targets and achieving associated key performance indicators.

To be successful in role you will have significant experience of operational leadership in a comparable customer facing environment (e.g. PBSA, hospitality, hotels or education) and on an equivalent scale. You will also have extensive experience of successfully leading and managing large diverse teams, with a proven track record of implementing change management on a large scale and delivering performance improvement. A high level of commercial acumen is vital including budget management in conjunction with both setting and achieving ambitious financial targets. Demonstrable success in stakeholder engagement along with creating a culture of collaboration and exceptional service delivery is essential.
