Job Description:
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh is currently looking to recruit Tax Administration Support for an initial 6-month contracts on a rate of £15.02 per /hour PAYE - working 37 hours per week. These roles will be hybrid working with a minimum of two days per week in the office location.

Candidates must have basic disclosure Scotland certificate and BPSS security clearance in place. 

Responsibilities:
-Answering support desk telephone calls, providing guidance to taxpayers and agents on a range of topics.
-Make decisions on tax related matters including repayments, penalties and recovering unpaid debts adhering with current processes and guidance.
-Investigating cases relating to all types of tax transactions such as 3 yearly review returns, terminations, penalty cancellations, disregards etc. Including preparation and issue of correspondence to taxpayers.
-Support Team Leaders and Managers to deliver Revenue Scotland’s business plan including deputising for other colleagues within Tax Operations when required.
-Monitoring mailboxes and dealing with queries from internal and external stakeholders in a fair and supportive manner ensuring key performance indicators (KPI’s) are met.
-Undertake necessary research and investigative work and suggest follow up action on tax return checks, in accordance with RS policy and procedures
-Assisting in gathering and analysing data. Working with colleagues to provide input and business testing for work trials. As well as inputting to lessons learned exercises, highlighting risks and benefits/findings.

Essential Criteria

-Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to work in a positive and effective manner to handle competing priorities.
- Proven track record of working effectively as part of a team, identifying and raising issues with senior team members where necessary and working flexibly across teams where required.
-Good oral and written communication skills with experience of building constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, sharing knowledge and information with others.
-Positive approach to change. Adapting quickly to changing circumstances and expectations.
