Job Description:
Water scarcity is one of the major challenges facing the world today. More than 70% of the planet is covered by water; yet only 1% of it is drinkable.
But there is equipment that can make that water drinkable through a process called reverse osmosis; basically turning seawater into fresh water (I wish I’d known when I was a toddler and drank some seawater - I can still taste it now!).
It helps to create a sustainable future.
This business supplies that equipment, and the parts that go towards making it.
It’s a great time to be joining them as there is a lot of business coming in; which is why they are looking for a new graduate to join the team.
The main part of the job will be assisting customers and sales teams with technical queries.
You’ll be able to use your analytical and problem solving skills to work through questions that they have, and advise them on the best course of action; or the best item to use. For example, a new plant may be being built and they may want to know the best membrane to use.
You won’t be expected to know the best answer immediately, but with time this is the sort of guidance you’ll be giving. It’s something to be proud of.
And the more guidance you can give to customers, the less will have to be referred to suppliers; meaning better service for the customers.
You’ll also be helping with customer training on the use of the products. And resolving any technical issues that come up.
You’ll be learning and using engineering software and tools; and will get to know about the water treatment industry.
In time, you’ll get to go to occasional site visits.
You can also get involved with providing proposals and quotations for customers if you like (though if you’d rather stick to the technical stuff then that’s ok, there is someone else to do this part).
WHAT YOU’LL GET
Salary is between £26,000 - £28,000 and there could be a bonus on top of that depending on how the business does.
And you get to finish early on a Friday…
Hours: Monday - Thursday 8am to 4.30pm; Friday 8am to 1pm.
There is a company Benefits Scheme, including cycle to work scheme, wellbeing Benefits, and free onsite Parking.
WHERE YOU’LL BE DOING IT
Location is in Rochdale, and is commutable from areas including Bury and Oldham.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Your degree should be in degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar. You don’t need to know anything about water treatment as training is provided (though if you do have any knowledge that would be great).
WHAT TO DO NEXT…
If you fit the profile then please send your cv asap. We will then speak more about the role and business, and how it may match what you are looking for.
