This Public Sector commercial enterprise is developing its finance team and has an urgent requirement for an Interim Accountant for a 6-month role to deliver management accounts and payroll services to the organisation.
Your new role
The Interim Accountant will be responsible for providing accurate financial information, conducting financial analysis, and supporting decision-making processes. This service will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and senior management to ensure the company’s financial health and contribute to its overall success. They will oversee the company’s payroll, working with an external Payroll software specialist.
Tasks include:
* Data analysis - gathering and analysing trends within the organisation and putting together financial reports for senior management.
* Month-end and Year-end Close: Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records. Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and support the preparation of financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
* Supporting the team in reconciling financial data between manual databases and their accounting software, Xero.
* Overseeing the management of supplier invoices received and recording these transactions in the relevant database, good attention to detail ensuring processes are adhered to and followed.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including department heads, project managers, and executives, to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and facilitate cross-functional initiatives.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the finance function. Streamline financial reporting processes, enhance data accuracy, and leverage automation tools to increase efficiency and productivity.

What you’ll need to succeed
* AAT+ qualified
* Proven experience as a bookkeeper
* Strong attention to detail
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
* Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
* Excel and database skills
* Proven manual or automated bookkeeping experience
* Xero experience advantageous
