Transport Shift Manager

Pay: £37,200 (inclusive of 20% shift allowance)
Hours: Monday to Friday, rotational shifts 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00
Location: Widnes and Halewood, covering both sites with time evenly split.
Contract: Temporary with a potential to become permanent

Pertemps is recruiting for an experienced Transport Shift Manager to work for a national client based in Widnes and Halewood, covering both sites.

Role Overview: The successful candidate will manage daily transport issues and ensure that staff and drivers are trained to high standards. The Shift Manager plays a key role in overseeing and coordinating day-to-day operations. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent organisational abilities, and a deep understanding of logistics and transportation management.

Duties Include: * Managing daily transport issues and upholding client’s SLA with their customer.
* Improving processes and addressing non-conformance.
* Ensuring staff and drivers are trained to the client’s high standards in areas like health and safety, assessments, diversity, equality, and compliance.
* Implementing the client’s innovative training strategies for staff and drivers.
* Staying updated on initiatives and VOSA/DSA compliance changes.
* Coordinating with planning and resources to deliver an effective and cost-efficient transport solution.
* Maintaining drivers’ fuel-efficient driving standards using Microlise.
* Managing driver infringements and lead-in time violations using Tachomaster.
* Mentoring, motivating, and training staff to help them develop the necessary skills for their roles.

Skills and Experience Required: * Proven experience in managing shifts in a transport environment.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance.
* Experience in process improvement and handling non-conformance issues.
* Familiarity with logistics, transport planning, and resource coordination.
* Proficiency in using management software like Microlise and Tachomaster.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to train, mentor, and motivate staff.
* Experience in maintaining service level agreements (SLAs) and implementing cost-effective solutions.
* Understanding of industry-specific standards and practices.
* Must have own transport to cover both sites.
