Job Description:
Summary As our Retail Manager at Trengwainton Garden, you’ll play an important part in helping people enjoy their day. And you’ll be generating crucial funds for the National Trust to invest in protecting and caring for places, so people and nature can thrive. In return, we’ll give you the chance to be creative and give you the support and tools you need to build your career.
Hours: Working 1430 hours per year, Contract will be working Sunday to Thursday. Property is closed Fri/Sat and also in Nov/Jan and some of Dec/Feb. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments.
Salary: £17,966 per annum

What it’s like to work here Reporting to the Area Manager, you’ll be leading a small team of retail assistants and retail volunteers. You’ll be part of the leadership team at Trengwainton Garden, and will work closely with the General Manager and the wider team, actively involved in making decisions that affect the whole place. What you’ll be doing Your focus every day will be on your customers: going out of your way to make sure they’re having their best possible day. You’ll lead your team from the front, encouraging them to speak to people and listen to what they want. And also to inspire them, so that everyone who buys something knows just what a difference their contribution, however small, will make to the work of the Trust in protecting nature, beauty and history. You’ll set stretching targets for the team, and work together to achieve these through the highest standards of customer service and presentation of retail products.

* skilled in coaching, developing and leading teams
* experienced in managing rotas and recruiting staff
* adept at getting maximum sales out of a retail outlet
