ADA is on the lookout for an experienced Data Engineer to join a growing Hedge Fund in London, as they scale up a brand-new team. The company is an investment management firm that specializes in algorithmic and quant trading.

You’ll join a tech team of five and report to the Head of tech, leading the design and build of data pipelines and database systems for high performance/scalability.

Compensation is up to £140k DOE + Bonus, with hybrid remote working from their London office.

Company:

You’ll be joining the London team in its infancy. The company has offices in Europe and you’ll form part of the flagship team in their London office, so a background in the financial services sector - and an understanding of commodity trading – would be a huge bonus.

Day to day:

You must have experience in the Finance sector, as well as experience with Python, Terraform, Spark/Kafka, and AWS. You’ll need experience writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code, as well as expertise in SQL/relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.

Your day-to-day will involve leading everything Data related to Database Architecture, Data Security, Data Integration, and Data Pipeline Development.

Technical:

* Demonstrable experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis
* Demonstrable experience with database design, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning
* Demonstrable experience with Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka
* Demonstrable experience handling large-scale data processing tasks and optimizing big data workflows
* Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
* Proficiency in Python
* Infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Copilot, AWS CDK)
* AWS experience

Certifications in the following would be advantageous:

* Cloud Certifications: AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty
* Database Certifications: Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL Database Administrator, or similar.
* Big Data Certifications: Cloudera Certified Professional Data Engineer, Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark, or similar
