Head Of Health & Safety
We are looking to appoint the Head of Health & Safety to join a leader in the pumping solutions and heavy equipment hire industry.
This is a critical role that will oversee the enhancement of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs across the organization, cultivating an exemplary safety culture in a dynamic work environment.
The appointed Head of Health & Safety will be tasked with developing and implementing a comprehensive health and safety strategy that aligns with the business’s overarching objectives.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Formulate and implement a detailed health and safety strategy aligned with the company’s overarching goals. Define clear health and safety objectives, measure achievements, and track advancements.
* Spearhead the creation of long-term health and safety agendas, managing both the financial planning and allocation of resources.
* Direct and support a geographically dispersed team of Health & Safety Advisors, ensuring the strategic and effective execution of safety protocols. Foster a collaborative atmosphere to maintain compliance throughout the organization.
* Design and update an annual health and safety roadmap in sync with the broader strategic goals, ensuring that all related programs are current.
* Outline and define project parameters and goals, engaging all necessary stakeholders to guarantee the technical viability of health and safety efforts.
* Assess and document both existing and potential health and safety risks in the workplace, leading enterprise-level risk assessments and formulating appropriate mitigations.
* Draft, distribute, enact, and periodically reassess the organization’s health and safety guidelines and practices.
* Maintain ongoing communication with external organizations such as regulatory authorities, insurance providers, and audit firms.

Skills & Experience required:
* In-depth understanding and practical experience in enforcing compliance with: * ISO 18001 / 45001 Health and Safety Management Systems
* Health and Safety legislation

* Possession of a NEBOSH Diploma, Degree, or NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Demonstrable and recent success in a leadership role within the Health & Safety domain or a similar capacity.
* Skilled in crafting and refining health and safety protocols to align with both legislative requirements and organizational standards.
* Established history of managing a Health and Safety team effectively, with a focus on setting precise objectives and enhancing team performance.
* Strong experience in cultivating a Health and Safety culture that embeds best practices into the daily operations and ensures thorough compliance.
* Professional acumen and confidence to question existing paradigms and drive improvements through continuous enhancement of systems and processes.
* Competent in delivering clear and impactful communications to upper management and board-level executives.
* Holds a full UK driving license & able to undertake travel across the UK to support customers and other sites.
Summary
Position: Head of Health & Safety
Location: Hampshire
Duration: Permanent
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Car + Bonus
Hours: Full-Time Monday - Friday
Start: Notice Dependant
