Garment Technologist
Location: Merseyside - Hybrid working
Multi-Channel Retailer
Ladieswear & Menswear
£26,000 - £28,000 plus benefits
Our client, a well-established multi-channel retailer offers its customers a wide range of quality lifestyle, fashion and homeware products.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to further their career within Garment Technology. The primary focus will be on Ladieswear but there will be opportunity to gain exposure to other product areas such as Menswear, Footwear, Textiles and Lifestyle. Our client is looking for someone who is passionate, self-motivated, has attention to detail and can use their own initiative.
Key responsibilities:
* Working within the Quality department to maintain high standards by following in-house quality procedures and standards.
* Work with Buying Team to advise best solutions to fit and styling issues - ensuring that garments meet costing criteria.
* Working closely with the suppliers to ensure that the product meets Retailer requirements.
* Fitting of garments at first fit and sealing stages and providing detailed feedback to suppliers utilising K&L dummies for fitting.
* Complete face to face fit sessions with suppliers’ technologists where possible.
* Help with advising the customer service team regarding queries on product and fit.
* Conduct returns analysis alongside regular monthly returns, reporting findings to the Senior Technologist.
* Assisting with bulk QC checks when required.
* Ensure that the critical path is kept up to date and any issues are flagged and dealt with appropriately.
* Will be required to train on "In-house" systems - Returns, Technical data etc.
Key Requirements:
* Experience in the industry.
* Degree in garment technology/fashion design or equivalent qualification.
* Womenswear experience required across multiple categories/ranges/knitted and woven constructions.
* Experience working with UK and Far East suppliers and factories.
* Understanding of garment construction techniques.
* Understanding of product returns and implementing improvements based on the products performance.
* Proactive, positive and solutions focused.
