Job Description:
Want to work for a prestigious public sector organisation with a reputation for excellence in research? Do you have a knack for financial administration and a passion for supporting groundbreaking projects? Want to work for an organisation with employee wellbeing and development at the forefront of everything they do? If so, this could be the perfect role for you!
Robertson Bell is delighted to partner with this organisation as they seek a Research Finance Assistant. This role is initially offered on permanent basis. This opportunity arises due to the previous postholder’s promotion within the organisation, and it offers a dynamic environment where you can grow your career while contributing to the university’s world-class research.
In this Research Finance Assistant you will:
* Comprehensive Training: Begin with foundational training in Oracle and departmental procedures, ensuring a thorough understanding of the finance systems.
* Core Responsibilities: Entering journals and setting up projects, including reading contracts, summarising details, and communicating with Research Project Leads.
* Audit Support: Assist the Research Manager with audit activities, including gathering supporting information for Auditors and obtaining clarifications from Research Project Leads.
* Project Monitoring: Provide ongoing support to Research Project Leads, tracking project spending, identifying potential issues, and managing project-related queries.
* Fund Management: Handle strict funder deadlines and varying donor formats, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
* Continuous Support: While the role presents a steep learning curve, comprehensive training and team support are provided, making it an excellent opportunity for professional development.
Based in Oxfordshire, this role requires full office presence during the initial training period but offers hybrid working once you’ve settled into the position. The successful candidate will also benefit from a highly attractive package that includes 30 days of annual leave (excluding bank holidays) and a competitive pension contribution exceeding 15%.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Minimum of GCSE education or equivalent; AAT qualification is desirable.
* Experience in a research-orientated organisation or large entity with a solid understanding of financial operations.
* Strong financial aptitude, with the ability to analyse and interpret data beyond basic entry.
* Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables and formulas.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and the vacancy may close early if a suitable candidate is found, so do not hesitate and apply now to avoid disappointment!
