Job Description:
Diamond Search Recruitment are delighted to be representing a new client of ours, a well-established, successful and proactive business operating within the engineering and manufacturing industry.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Photonics Engineer in Devon. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set and work within the optics and fibre-optic R&D team. As part of a global effort, you will take a lead on the development of novel fibre-optic based products.
Responsibilities:
*Design and develop world leading optical and photonic components, modules and sub-systems using appropriate design tools and software.
*Lead part of the team, responsible for objective setting and annual appraisals.
*Contribute to cohesive product development strategy which provides the site with the market offering to meet business growth objectives.
*Work within a multidisciplinary team including mechanical and electronic design engineers as well as Product engineers and technicians.
*Active involvement in prototype build - including fibre-optic splicing, mechanical / electrical assembly and opto-electronic test.
*Develop and execute test plans for functional and environmental verification of components and systems.
*Support design modification and engineering changes to existing products.
*Present results clearly and concisely for both internal and external customers.
*Deliver projects to plan and within budget constraints.
Requirements:
*Degree in Engineering or Physics.
*PhD in relevant area preferred.
*Knowledge and experience in fibre-optics, photonics and general optics.
*Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse complex technical challenges.
*Well organised, with the ability to hit tight deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail.
*Experienced with design tools such as Zemax or equivalents.
