Credit Controller
* Location: Aldridge, Walsall
* Job Type: Full-time
* Salary: £12-13ph TTP
* Bonus: Paid quarterly
We are looking for a dedicated Credit Controller to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for effective cash collection and credit control, ensuring risk assessments are completed and authorisation levels are observed. This role involves direct reporting to the Credit Supervisor and Credit Manager and requires proactive engagement with customers to manage payments and resolve disputes.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Contact customers to obtain payment commitments and monitor compliance.
* Identify and address queried or disputed invoices/accounts, promoting resolution.
* Pursue overdue debts via telephone and written communication, including sending final letters of claim.
* Make recommendations for withholding supplies from overdue or over-limit accounts and notify relevant staff in accordance with company policy.
* Liaise with Branch, Sales, and Customer Service staff to resolve queried or disputed invoices/accounts and pursue settlement when resolved.
* Create and maintain informative system diary entries for each account to record all meaningful contacts and payment commitments.
* Provide copy documents or other information requested by customers, either directly or through liaison with Branch staff.
* Obtain trade reference and other information for new credit account applications.
* Responsible for cash posting and allocation on a rota basis.
* Maintain professional relationships with all customers and internal stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Credit Controller.
* Strong understanding of credit control processes and risk assessment.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Proficient in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Commitment to maintaining professional relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
