Service Care solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in the Lincolnshire area for a Payroll Officer to join their team. Please find further details regarding this role below.
Role description:
* To assist in the provision of a comprehensive payroll service to customers on monthly payrolls as part of the Payroll, Pensions and People Administration Department.
* To deliver a high quality, customer focused service to meet the requirements of the payroll provision, ensuring the delivery of a responsive service by reacting to and meeting a range of fluctuating pressures and daily demands.
Main Duties:
* Process Payroll data including but not limited to variable deductions and payments, new starters, changes and leavers, Salary Sacrifice Schemes, mileage and overtime claims to meet monthly deadlines and issue monthly payslips.
* Process Payroll data according to statutory requirements to meet monthly/yearly deadlines.
* Ensure that accurate staff records are maintained, and the payroll system is updated to reflect changes in personal data that affect pay calculations.
* Maintain accurate records and prepare written communications to the customer and other agencies to obtain information and in response to enquiries.
* Ensure that the data held is sufficient and in a format that meets the legislative requirements for reporting and annual returns for HMRC, National Insurance and the LGPS
* Complete necessary documentation arising from payroll and pension information requests, including insurance claims and from external agencies.
* Produce and issue relevant tax forms, for example, P45, P60 forms to employees in accordance with HMRC requirements.
* Work effectivley within a team providing support and assistance to other team members.
Candidate Specification:
* 2-3 years’ experience of working in a Payroll Team
* Detailed understanding of payroll and pensions legislation, statutory payments and deductions
* Detailed understanding of payroll processes.
* Experienced administrator with an ability to interpret and implement payroll legislation.
* Knowledge and understanding of effective customer care.
