Your new role
This diverse role requires a robust understanding and hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud data technologies, data architecture, and data engineering. You will lead the delivery of data engineering solutions on a Microsoft Azure platform, ensuring all solutions are fit-for-purpose, align with BI and business strategy, and are cost-effective, secure, deliverable, and supportable. Your responsibilities will include:
* Leading the design, build, and management of infrastructure to support the BI team and other data professionals.
* Developing secure, high-quality data pipelines from various data sources.
* Ensuring data is cleansed, mapped, transformed, and optimised for storage.
* Creating data models for specific business use cases.
* Monitoring and optimising data pipeline performance.
* Debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting data solutions.
* Undertaking database administration activities to support data integrity, availability, and security.
* Liaising with the Business Intelligence Manager to enable BI content development.


What you’ll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you will need:
* Engineering and database skills in SQL Server and Azure (Databricks, Datafactory, Synapse).
* Extensive experience in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines.
* Experience with Azure Data solutions and services.
* Advanced SQL and query optimisation skills.
* Knowledge of ETL techniques and frameworks.
* Ability to work as a team member and leader in a diverse technical environment.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of BI development lifecycles, Agile processes, and relevant data platform technologies.
