Job Description:
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Cambridgeshire, is currently looking to recruit a Service Director (Adult Social Care) for an initial 13 week contract with potential to extend on a rate of £600-£700/day (Inside IR35). This role will be hybrid working with 2-3 days in the office per week.

Responsibilities:

- Be accountable and provide effective leadership, development and management for the Adult Social Care services ensuring the highest possible quality of service is delivered within the resources available.
- Ensure that all services support the principles of personalisation and self-directed support ensuring the health, safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals and the wider population, whilst enabling people to retain their independence, control and dignity in line with national requirements and local needs.
- Hold lead responsibility for staff within Adult Social Care Operations. To hold lead responsibility for specialist social work teams working in close partnership with Health, including the Learning Disability Partnership, 0 to 25 Disability Service, Early Intervention and Prevention and the Transfer of Care Team supporting capacity across the health and social care system and the specialist learning disability nursing and speech and language therapy services. 
- Lead on key aspects of the transformation of health and social care to create an integrated effective service for the population.
- Play an integral role across the wider health and social care transformation programme.
- Work closely with the Commissioning teams to specify requirements for social care services within communities ensuring that the services are commissioned in the most cost-effective and ’joined-up’ way as far as possible, ensuring that money is spent wisely and to best effect to drive down the cost of specialist and targeted services.
- Work with the Strategic Lead of Safeguarding and Principal Social Worker to ensure that safeguarding is a corporate and universal priority.
- Contribute to the strategic planning of the organisation and in particular the Adult Services Department. Work with the Executive Director, Leadership Team and partners to develop and promote a strategic vision of a wide range of Adult Social Care, which promotes the independence and wellbeing of vulnerable people.
- Attend, report and be accountable for the provision of reports to Committees, Service and any other relevant Boards and/or meetings.
- Be responsible for the budget, ensuring budget managers remain compliant with all relevant policies and that budget spend remains on target.

Essential Skills:

- A relevant graduate Level qualification or equivalent and/or relevant compensating experience at a leadership level
- Experience of working in partnership across organisational boundaries including between the health system and social care and of delivering services through joint working or in integrated teams.
- Experience of working effectively in a political environment, demonstrating high levels of political awareness, sensitivity, confidentiality and understanding and the ability to translate that into delivering the agendas of the administration and winning the confidence of elected members and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated evidence of listening and responding to the voice of those who use the services, their families and carers.
- Significant experience of the preparation, management and control of budgets for a large, complex organisation, ensuring prioritising and targeting of resources to achieve maximum value for money and income generation whilst maintaining customer care.
- Extensive experience and proven track record at senior management level of successfully developing and delivering services, including collaboration with partners, in a complex stakeholder environment.
- Proven track record of leading strategic decision making and resource allocation and of problem solving and meeting objectives at a service and directorate level.
- Evidence of successful partnership development or delivery through partnerships including an ability to work with local partners to develop joint strategies for implementing government requirements and local services.
- Extensive experience of providing leadership and direction to and across a diverse range of services.
- Evidence of developing and encouraging innovative ideas to drive improvement in the delivery of services.
- Proven experience of influencing strategic policy direction within large complex organisations such as local authorities.
- Demonstrated evidence of significant service improvement through managing change including staff engagement, capacity building, workforce modernisation and organisational reform.
- Experience of driving performance management using appropriate quality and management methods and models to deliver efficient and effective services through collaborative working.
