Quantity Surveyor
Location: Bristol
My client are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to support a range of smart highways and term maintenance projects. Ideally, candidates need to have experience with the NEC forms of contract with highways experience.
The role:
The main purpose of this role is to manage the commercial performance of the contracts, working alongside the Project Manager as part of the Project team and advise on profit & loss ownership of designated projects.
Carry out commercial activities to meet the Project objectives, including providing advice, guidance & support on such matters to the Project team
Proficient in the understanding of contractual obligations, under all standard forms of contract – such as NEC etc.
Preparing & using detailed budgets, cost plans and preparing & interpreting turnover/cash flow projections and profit/loss forecasts
Assist in the identification of and undertaking the valuing of variations & potential variations working closely with finance colleagues.
Preparing and agreement on final accounts with clients and subcontractors
Assist in resolving contractual issues, extensions, loss and/or expense claims, terms & conditions
Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risk
The person:
* Must have previous experience in Quantity Surveyor positions in highways sector.
* Have knowledge and understanding of construction techniques, problems and solutions and work closely with technical staff.
* Be able to develop knowledge of the contractual, commercial & processes relating to the project especially NEC3 suit of contracts
* Excellent written, numerical, oral communication and negotiating skills, with a keen eye for detail
* Able to identify risks in projects, & implement & manage risk management procedures & contingencies
