Job Description:
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in East Lothian, is currently looking to recruit an Office Assistant for a 12 – 18 month contract on a rate of £12.29 per hour. The working hours for this role will be 35 hours per week with flexi time, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Promote a positive image of organisation by providing excellent customer care.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement using management information and customer feedback
- Assist in the delivery by ensuring site & vehicle compliance.
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the service by developing in delivering commercial initiatives in relation to vehicle hires, site compliance in line with SEPA requirements.
- Update the fleet management and other management systems and import/export information to produce management statistics, data analysis and reporting.
- Co-ordinate and oversee the vehicle hire provision, including dealing with customers, identifying vehicle requirements, checking for damage, refuelling and assisting in the collection and delivery of hire vehicles.
- Assist in the monitoring the effectiveness of household and kerbside collections, separation and transfer of recycled and waste materials by conducting inspections, collating statistics and data and reporting findings.
- Support colleagues with projects, in dealing with Customer complaints, ensuring Home to School transport provision etc.
- Act as Project Assistant for any related projects.
- Act as facilitator in the delivery of talks and activities to schools and community groups to promote recycling, organising rooms, delivery of equipment, presentation of information etc
- Promote the organisation’s vision and values and a corporate culture that is positive, customer focused and supports employee engagement to the highest standards.
- Develop and sustain effective internal and external relationships and appropriate partnerships in relation to the service being provided.
- Participate on internal and external working groups, as required to provide technical support/information and data.
- Undertake training and development relevant to the post.
Take reasonable care of personal health and safety and co-operate with management to enable compliance with the organisation’s health and safety rules and legislative requirements.
- Undertake such other duties and responsibilities that may be reasonably required by the service.
Essential Skills:
- Basic Disclosure Check
- A minimum of SVQ1/Standard Grade General level English/Maths or National 4 English/Maths or Literacy/Numeracy or Intermediate 1 Communication /Numeracy and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience in a waste or transport environment.
- As driving is part of your main duties, you must hold a current Cat B driving license.
- Experience of working in a similar environment.
- Project work related experience
- Genuine interest in industry.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective organisational and time management skills.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritise work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy, paying close attention to detail
- Ability to work with and explain detailed legislative information.
- Ability to manage effective relationships with tact and diplomacy.
