Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Position: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: South Yorkshire
Schedule: 5 days per week
Salary: £85 - £100 per day

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a child with autism, fostering a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
- Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities, adapting materials and resources as needed.
- Implement individualised strategies and interventions to support the child’s academic progress and social development.
- Support the child with sensory needs, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges, using positive behaviour management techniques.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher and SENCO to develop and implement personalized learning plans and targets.
- Maintain accurate records of the child’s progress and achievements, communicating regularly with parents/carers and other professionals involved in the child’s support network.
- Foster positive relationships with the child, promoting independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
Expectations:
- Relevant experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and evidence-based interventions.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the child and the school environment.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
