Job Description:
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit 4 x Senior Planners for initial 6 month contracts with option to extend for a further 6 months on a salary of £40,797-£47,477/annum, generous holidays entitlement. These roles will be hybrid working with 2 days in the office per week.
Responsibilities:
- Providing expert technical planning and development advice to colleagues, management and clients, both internally and externally, especially for complex applications and projects
- Prioritising and processing a demanding and varied workload covering pre-application discussion, range of development applications, leading on appeals and liaising with colleagues in delivering the Development Management function
- Supporting delivery of service improvement through innovative procedures and input towards interpreting and meeting corporate and national targets for service delivery
- Supporting the wider operation of the Planning Service through delivery of up-to-date development plan coverage for the city, supporting priority regeneration areas of the city and implementing actions as defined by the Enforcement Charter
- Preparing reports for committee
- Progressing innovative projects that facilitate development on the ground.
Essential Skills:
- Educated to degree level
- Holds Chartered membership of RTPI or equivalent professional body.
- Proficient IT skills.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Good decision making, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Experience of delivering the planning system effectively.
- An understanding of policy issues and implications.
- Project planning knowledge or experience
- The ability to work alone and as an effective team member.
Desirable Skills:
- Demonstrates ability to be customer focused.
- Leadership & management skills
- Evidence of continuous self-development
- Evidence of contributing towards continuous service improvement
