The Expense Account Assistant will report into the Reporting & Control Manager. They will do monthly data processing with regards to monthly preparation of management expenses, including processing journals, completing review of expense variances, working with payroll related data, and ensuring it has been processed accurately in the ledger and the reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts. They will also assist with queries related to external audit. There are a lot to learn within the wider expenses and Reporting & Controls team as well as opportunities to progress.

The Expense Account Assistant will assist the Reporting & Control Manager in the monthly preparation of management expenses, including processing journals, completing review of expense variances, producing cost centre reports and the reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts.

Also have knowledge with regards to payroll and how to account for various payroll related journals and reconciliations.

They will also assist with the preparation of the budget and forecasting process on expenses.

Further support of wider change activities may also be required.

Support the Finance Manager in completing the following tasks: * Provide support for a full expense close on all month ends
* Provide Balance sheet reconciliations for areas as required and in a timely fashion
* Posting of journal entries required for expenses
* Assist with production of accounting and actuarial management information
* Assist in the generation, input and reconciliation of the financial results
* Assist with the intercompany reporting process
* Support the preparation of monthly expense commentary and other qualitative requirements
* Assist with External Audit queries
You will be a trusted member of a fast-paced team, working collaboratively to achieve shared goals to a high quality and in line with deadlines. You will be responsible for supporting the completion of accurate reporting and compliance within established guidelines, understanding the details to highlight any inconsistencies or errors within the data sets.

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record demonstrating skills and knowledge in the following areas: * Ability to engage and consult with senior colleagues
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* Strong attention to detail
* Able to work in a complex and changing environment
* Proactive approach to the resolution of problems and obstacles, escalating issues as required
* Ability to interrogate systems and understand the Expense Financial Data Model
* Advanced MS Excel skills
* Experience with Workday and PowerBI
