Commercial print manager

Key Purpose of Post:
* To build a world class Label Print Facility.
* To continually improve the financial performance of Label Production by reducing waste and refining production efficiencies. Ensuring that quality of product, delivery and Client satisfaction are paramount.
* To effectively lead and manage all aspects of production from estimating and production scheduling through to print production, quality control and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* To identify operational breakdowns / inefficiencies in existing processes and implement corrective actions / improvements to streamline processes and workflow.
* To review and improve / establish effective production planning processes and ensure these are maintained.
* To manage procurement, always ensuring appropriate inventory levels, best price buying, meeting with suppliers on site. Ensure that a Purchase Ordering system is always used when orders are placed.
* To review and improve processes for estimating, proofing and approval pre production.
* To ensure that all print jobs are accurately quoted and produced in a timely manner, running trials where appropriate.
* To review production briefs for accuracy, timelines and production requirements needed for print production.
* Work together with the sales team to understand and deliver end user requirements, providing advise and support where necessary, particularly around material options.
* To assist sales with any site visits to understand application of product, to assist in finding solutions. Where necessary assist in person with customers re quality concerns.
* To undertake commercial reviews of opportunities to determine whether jobs should be printed in house or outsourced.
* To implement a Quality Culture, delivering products that always meet or exceed customer expectations.
* To oversee quality within sampling and actual manufacturing, ensuring a quality product is produced at all times, and within agreed timeframes, both by in house teams or external production partners.
* To ensure that wastage is continually reduced in the production process.
* To prepare management reports as may be required.
* To report weekly on OTIF, RFT, waste, downtime, opportunities for improvement.
* To work with the Finance function on budgeting, forecasting and actual product cost analysis Vs proposed.
* To ensure that the Company’s print management information system holds up to date and accurate data at all times.
* To communicate any supply chain issues to Sales / Account Management teams and coordinate solution implementation.
* To promote a culture of health and safety ownership within the team and production facility.
* To ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, employment law and related Company policies and procedures.
* To effectively lead and manage your team members, ensuring that they are trained, motivated and directed to achieve the required standard of performance in their areas of responsibility.
* To ensure that team members are multi-skilled to ensure flexibility / cover.
* Succession planning: identify key positions and competencies, skills and knowledge necessary for business continuity. To ensure that individuals are suitably trained / developed to meet current and future business needs.
* To deal promptly and efficiently with any performance / conduct / welfare-related issues with team members, obtaining input and advice from the Group HR Manager.
* To ensure that preventative / regular maintenance is undertaken on all machinery and that all required servicing takes place.
* To ensure that the site is safe, clean and tidy always.
* To establish and develop collaborative relationships within and across the Company.
* To undertake any other reasonable duties which may be assigned to you.
