A small federation of primary schools in Lewisham are looking for a School Premises Officer / Caretaker to join them on a full time, permanent basis.
This is an important role, in which you will have many duties including Security, Maintenance, Porterage, Heating/Ventilation/Plant, Playground Cleaning/Gardening and Safety.
You do not need to have experience as a School Premises Officer / Caretaker, however you must have the transferrable skills, especially practical skills and experience given this is such a hands-on role!

Job Spec - School Premises Officer / Caretaker
* General maintenance and upkeep of premises including buildings, fixtures, fittings and furniture.
* Carry out minor repairs under own initiative or ordering any major repair work in agreement with the Headteacher
* Using specific skills or expertise where possible. This includes carpentry, electrical and plumbing repairs within own capability and in line with agreed health and safety procedures and guidelines.
* Opening & locking of gates, doors and windows
* Ensure the playground and site are litter and debris and hazard free at all times.
* Dustbin/Recycling bin management
* Taking responsibility for supplies of fuel and water
* Checking and replace lamps, tubes etc. in light fittings or arrange for this to be done by contractors as necessary.
* Organise the maintenance of school grounds including grass cutting, shrubbery pruning and weeding of flower beds and containers using contractors as required.
* Clearing ice and snow to give access to and exit from site.
* £34,770 per annum
* Full time, Year round (This position is not term time only unlike teachers)
* 35 working hours per week (7 hours a day with an hour break)
* Based in Lewisham
* Parking available on site
Person Spec - School Premises Officer / Caretaker
* Training and experience in at least one or more of the following; general maintenance, plumbing, electrical/building maintenance, heating systems, grounds work.
* Experience and expertise with DIY
* Fit and able to carry out manual handling and physical duties
* Able to work independently without direction, as well as within a team
