A very successful and long established manufacturing company based in Medway Towns is recruiting an experienced Laboratory Technician to join their friendly team on permanent basis.
The role is laboratory/shop floor-based working within in the technical department with primary responsibility for the laboratory and ensuring that equipment used in the manufacturing and testing process meets the correct specifications.
You will have a practical chemistry/metallurgical background and previous laboratory experience. A working knowledge of using an optical emission spectrometer would be advantageous and you will be well organised.
Your main duties will include to:
* Take full responsibility for the daily running and weekly calibration of the spectrometer.
* Analyse incoming ingot for compatibility.
* Perform hardness and tensile testing of metallurgical samples.
* Production and issuing of lab reports for both chemical and tensile testing.
* Carry out weekly/monthly calibration of equipment around the factory ie temperature indicators, balances, treatment ovens and ph monitors.
* Organise and schedule external subcontractors to carry out equipment calibrations.
* Order laboratory equipment and materials.
You will be professional, hardworking, committed and able to problem solve. A strong team player and able to work 6am-2pm, Monday-Friday.
