Job Description:
The Accounts Assistant will play a vital role in the accounting and finance department within the transport and distribution industry, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.

Our client are a well-known, multi-million turnover brand in the Liverpool area. They are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join their business on a full-time, permanent basis. The role will require someone who is fast paced and can multi-task. The successful person will need skills in AP/AR/Payroll.

Joining an amazing small team, you will be a key hire for the business and will be a central to ensuring that the team and accounts function work efficiently and seamlessly.

* Accounts Payable:
* Ensure timely supplier payments within agreed terms, managing a budget of £40 million annually.
* Process invoices accurately, verifying and approving expenditures.
* Oversee Purchase Order processing, investigating and addressing non-budgeted spend.
* Handle staff expense payments and address queries in line with budget guidelines.

* Accounts Receivable and Cash Management:
* Manage credit control and resolve queries for revenue streams totalling £50 million annually.
* Liaise with external customers to secure timely payments.
* Highlight and escalate outstanding debts, implementing recovery steps for aged debt.
* Allocate cash and post bank transactions.
* Reconcile bank statements with the general ledger.

* Payroll:
* Accurately process monthly payroll runs for two legal entities using an outsourced provider.
* Collaborate with HR to process new starters, leavers, and amendments.
* Review payroll computations for accuracy, perform variance analysis, and submit data to HMRC.
* Manage monthly pension scheme submissions, including auto-enrolment and leaver processing.
* Post payroll journals, ensuring alignment with the General Ledger.
* Address confidential payroll queries prompt

Profile
To be successful in this role, you will already have worked in a varied accounts assistant function and have exposure to AP, AR and payroll
In addition you will have experience and a background within the following:
* An educational background in finance, accounting or a related field.
* Understanding and knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
* Proficiency in using financial software and MS Office.
* Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
