Job Description:
Waterways Operative
Location: Nottinghamshire
We are seeking a physically fit individual who owns a car, holds a valid driver’s license, and is eager to learn and grow in a hands-on role. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop new skills while working on the inspection, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater assets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct daily inspections, repairs, and maintenance of water and wastewater assets, ensuring all tasks meet high-quality standards.
* Deliver exceptional customer service while adhering to health and safety regulations, financial guidelines, and contractual obligations.
* Work closely with the scheduling team and management to enhance productivity and efficiency.
* Provide daily feedback to help address water quality and environmental compliance issues.
* Assist customers and colleagues with technical support as needed.
* Manage your workload effectively, maintaining flexibility and productivity in various tasks.
* Take on diverse responsibilities, including meter installation, tank cleaning, pipework modification, and general site maintenance.
* Uphold cleanliness standards on water assets to meet food-grade requirements.
* Support operational incidents and participate in an out-of-hours standby rota.
* Work at a Water Treatment facility capable of producing 5 megaliters per day, which may include shift work and weekends.
* Obtain MoD clearance as required, with company-covered travel to various sites.
Experience and Skills Required:
* Physically fit with a car and valid driver’s license.
* A strong desire to learn and develop skills in water and wastewater asset maintenance.
* Experience in civil works, plumbing, or similar fields is beneficial but not required.
* Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
* Excellent communication skills, both with customers and colleagues.
* Ability to effectively organize and plan work, with a flexible approach to changes in work arrangements.
* Comfortable using a computer or smartphone for work-related tasks.
* Willingness to travel nationwide and stay overnight for training as needed.
* Self-motivated, with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative team spirit.
Qualifications:
* Previous experience in O&M activities or working with water/sewage assets is an advantage.
* Proficiency in safely using tools and equipment.
* Basic knowledge of risk assessments.
