About our client


We are working with a pre-seed venture capital fund looking to bring on a CFO to their team in London. This is a broad role that will be responsible for all aspects of internal operations, partnering with portfolio companies and supporting management through the deal lifecycle.

We are working with a well-regarded and exciting venture capital investor with an appealing entrepreneurial spirit. They are one of Europe’s leading early stage VC funds and have invested in a significant amount of successful start-ups, from pre-seed to Series A. They invest in a diverse range of companies with an impressive portfolio covering consumer, software, digital health and frontier technologies.

The fund is well capitalised and is looking for a dynamic CFO to join them in their continued growth. What the job involves


* Ownership of all accounting, tax and financial reporting processes and policies of funds and the management entity
* Build and maintain positive client relationships with service providers, including managing relationship with the external auditor
* Develop internal financial reporting processes and manage quarterly portfolio company reporting and valuations
* Ensure correct and consistent accounting treatment of investments and transactions
* Oversee the accurate and timely production of budgets and management accounts
* Oversee various firm administrative and office needs, including IT, facilities, office leases, supply agreements, office management
* Responsible for managing all tax related matters across the management entity and the funds
* Be responsible for business financing and source funding solutions
* Work closely with external parties, including auditors and tax professionals, legal consultants, limited partners, and portfolio company CFOs
* Provide financial leadership to the portfolio companies, working closely with the CFOs and other members of the senior management team to implement best operational practice
* Contribute to identifying and formulating exit strategy scenarios
* Take ownership of the financial aspects of the transaction
* Oversee the management of capital/debt structures of the portfolio companies and at fund portfolio level
* Identify and mitigate risks that could adversely impact performance
Who we are looking for


* Qualified accountant with previous experience in leading a finance or investment operations team ideally within venture capital
* Previous experience in implementing new systems and processes
* Track record of managing and building out finance teams
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
* Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset
* Self-organised and self-motivated with a result-orientated mindset
* Strong interest in pre-seed and venture capital investing
