Job Description:
Learning Lead Teacher
* Location: Doncaster DN1
* Job Type: Temporary or Permanent
* Salary: £23.71 PAYE / £29.59 Umbrella per hour or circa £30,000 per annum for permanent role
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Lead Teacher to provide exceptional teaching and support to children outside of mainstream schools. This role is pivotal in supervising and guiding learners to overcome barriers to education, including SEND needs and potential anti-social behaviour. Experience as a SEND TA/Teacher is essential for this role, as you will be working with small groups of children to enhance their learning experience and help them achieve their full potential.
Day to Day of the role:
* Supervise and provide guidance to learners accessing EPIC learning alternative provision.
* Develop a comprehensive understanding of the school curriculum, alternative provision, and pastoral care system.
* Identify early signs of disengagement and implement interventions to encourage re-engagement with the curriculum and school life.
* Train and brief other staff on strategies to support day-to-day student activities.
* Establish and develop effective mentoring relationships with learners, encouraging engagement in learning opportunities.
* Facilitate the withdrawal and re-integration of students into the learning environment.
* Act as the first contact for child protection issues, providing appropriate responses.
* Oversee the development and implementation of personalised action plans for learners.
* Develop and implement strategies for overcoming barriers to learning, including behaviour, motivation, and academic achievement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Teaching Qualification - Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET), PGCE, or Cert Ed.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related field.
* GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade A – C or equivalent.
* 2-3 years’ experience supporting children with BESD / SEND.
* Experience working alongside professional agencies such as Schools, Police, Social Care, Health, and Alternative Learning Providers.
* Proven skills in managing challenging behaviour across the secondary age range.
* Understanding of child development, learning processes, and barriers to learning.
* Knowledge of the national curriculum and other learning programmes.
* IT proficiency.
