The Role
We are seeking a Business Support Manager to oversee a portfolio of relationships that have been placed on our Watchlist due to financial distress or elevated risk. The role involves understanding the causes of concern, establishing remedial strategies, and driving these strategies to successful conclusions. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, borrowers, and professional advisors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage Watchlist Loans: Transition loans to the Business Support Team and manage borrower interactions through meetings, site visits, and written communication.
* Analyze Issues: Identify and understand the issues leading to a loan’s Watchlist status and propose strategic solutions to realign the credit risk profile.
* Reporting: Regularly update senior management on the status of Watchlist loans, preparing credit papers and seeking necessary approvals.
* Execute Strategies: Implement and monitor agreed strategies, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders and reporting on progress.
* Professional Engagement: Appoint and collaborate with external professionals, such as valuers and solicitors, to support analysis and strategy execution.
* Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to lessons learned and best practices within the Business Support Team and across the Bank.
* Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all reporting requirements, including IFRS 9 Impairment modeling and credit reporting, are met in a timely manner.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a credit risk or lending role within Asset Finance, Specialist Mortgages, Bridging Finance, or commercial banking. At least 2 years should involve handling non-performing/Watchlist loans.
* Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in credit report writing. Ability to manage difficult borrower conversations and convey key issues to internal stakeholders.
* Attributes: A self-starter with strong planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage high workloads, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively within a team. Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
* Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Knowledge: Familiarity with the banking regulatory environment, particularly conduct and compliance.
