Job Description:
Consumer Additions are currently working with a premium fashion SME business, they are looking to recruit a Finance Director to join their team based in London.
Key Responsibilities:
* Payroll, AP, AR, reconciliations, bank, financing etc.
* These processes need to be understood, defined, established; a junior team member to be hired, trained to operate those processes.
* The financing is to be understood, managed to reduce cost of financing but also to help business priorities and cashflow.
* Month end, P&L management, cashflow management, business cases, finance to support business decisions and risk management.
* To establish a robust P&L and cashflow process aimed at supporting business decisions and running the business is a key priority but will be dependent on setting the basics right.
* System implementation to support all the above. We use Xero for most elements, however it needs to be optimised to improve the processes. We also use Bright Pearl as an IRP system, which needs to be improved (registering sales and COGS) and integrated into Xero.
* Work closely with the senior management team while building close partnerships with Operations, Product, Ecommerce, Wholesale and Marketing.
* Manage and execute a robust credit control procedure, work with the wholesale team to define an effective system to track, chase and reconcile wholesale accounts.
* Set up a robust and efficient account payables and reconciliation process.
* Own relationship with the auditors and manage the annual audit process (with the senior management).
* Regulatory side including policies, audit support, and eventually all the regulatory side of the accounts (the latter is currently outsourced).
Key Requirements:
* An experienced financial management professional with at least 5+ years corporate side experience in a similar role post qualification.
* A candidate must be comfortable with managing the transactional side of company accounts and willing to execute day-to-day and month end accounts and reconciliations.
* A candidate must be interested in setting up a finance function from scratch to suit the company priorities. A candidate should either have an experience of working for a small founder led business or have a good understanding of what it will entail.
* A candidate must be able to work independently with no supervision based on agreed priorities and business needs.
* ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification is a must.
* Fashion / retail experience is required. Strong understanding of retail, wholesale and marketplace margins.
* In-depth analytical skills, exceptional diligence and attention to detail are critical to be able to succeed in this role.
* An ability to define, set up and manage new processes to improve a company’s financial discipline is essential.
* Proficient Excel and good working knowledge of accounting and ERP software is required
* Knowledge of Xero, BrightPearl, Netsuite essential
