We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join our Transportation team based in Ipswich.  In this role, you will carry out investigations, feasibility studies, and preliminary and detailed designs for various highway improvement and maintenance schemes for both internal and external commissioners.

Location: Ipswich - some remote working available, with travel to the office required
Contract: Permanent Fulltime
Salary: £35k - £42.5k + benefits
Responsibilities
As a Design Engineer, you’ll design improvement schemes which will range from footway improvements, new road signs, traffic regulation order schemes through to roundabout designs, junction improvements and public realm improvements, integrated with resolution of pre-existing maintenance needs. You’ll also design maintenance schemes from any aspect of hard landscaping and will include the management and scheduling of road closure requests for reactive, minor planned and general maintenance works
Your day to day will include:
* Assist with investigations, site visits, preparation of solutions and proposals, consultation, detailed design and detailing of highway improvement and maintenance schemes for feasibility or construction
* Prepare technical designs, drawings, documents specifications and other works information for infrastructure operations, assisting with the development of associated project management plans
* Adhere to the CDM Regulations 2015 for construction works, as well as the production of the health and safety files
* Produce technical reports and proposals
What are we looking for?
This role of Design Engineer is great if you have:
* Good technical knowledge and awareness of highways design and maintenance techniques, including the appropriate application of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges  
* Some experience of successfully delivering a range of complex projects in highways engineering, highways design or similar technical disciplines  
* Knowledge of traffic management regulations, guidance and requirements
