About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Practice Bookkeeper on behalf of our client, a well-established accountancy firm known for providing comprehensive financial services to a diverse range of clients. This role is ideal for a skilled bookkeeper with experience in practice, particularly with proficiency in Xero and Dext, as well as familiarity with various VAT schemes.
Role Overview: As a Practice Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing a variety of bookkeeping tasks for multiple clients. You will work closely with the accounting team to ensure that all financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with current regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of bookkeeping within a practice environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for a portfolio of clients.
* Process and reconcile client accounts using Xero and Dext software.
* Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns, working with various VAT schemes (e.g., Standard, Flat Rate, Cash Accounting).
* Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information and answer any bookkeeping-related queries.
* Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial statements as required.
* Conduct regular bank reconciliations and manage cash flow monitoring for clients.
* Support the year-end process by preparing accurate trial balances and supporting documentation.
* Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and guidelines.
* Provide training and support to junior members of the team, if required.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
* Proficiency in Xero and Dext (formerly Receipt Bank) is essential.
* Strong understanding of various VAT schemes and the ability to prepare accurate VAT returns.
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts efficiently.
* AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
