The opportunity
 
The Claims team has been built to meet the evolving needs of our business and our customers. The team is a formidable force for QBE, comprising over five hundred people spread across multiple locations within UK and the rest of Europe, and reflecting the diversity and strength of the region. Handling over 200,000 claims a year, QBE has built a reputation for excellence within the market and is widely recognised for its technical expertise.
The London markets claim team sits within Core claims. The team was formed in 2018 to meet the evolving needs of our business and our customers and has steadily grown since. Our lines of business, shared across 4 claims teams, include Casualty, Property, CAR, Marine and Energy and various FSM lines. Much of our work is international and the majority is handled via the bureau. We put our customers at the centre of all we do.
We are currently recruiting for Senior Claims Adjusters within the London Markets team. You will be expected to demonstrate technical expertise ideally in more than 1 of our lines of business and to investigate, manage and resolve more complex claims accurately and pro-actively, and within SLA’s and agreed authorities. You will be instrumental in the training coaching and development of our less skilled adjusters, including involvement in QC. You will also be involved in writing technical guides relating to your area of expertise and you may be required to upskill in other lines of our business. We will expect you to be flexible assisting other teams where your skills allow and the need arises.
Your new role

* Act as a referral point to other members of the Claims team on specific tasks as appropriate.
* Support the Assistant Claims Manager and Team Leaders in the technical mentoring of Claims Adjusters and Technicians as required.
* Support the implementation of the Claims strategy to enable delivery of overall business targets.
* Deliver bespoke training to the Claims team.
* Investigate and resolve complex Claims of a specialist nature in order to provide an excellent Claims handling service with minimal leakage.
* Identify and investigate coverage issues to ensure that the company’s liability is in line with its contractual commitments.
* Reserve accurately to ensure that the Company’s liability is clear at all times
* Ensure that messages, advices, and correspondence, are responded to pro-actively and within agreed timeframes to provide a professional service to brokers and clients
* Proactively manage estimates and billings calculated by clients service providers and brokers resolving any discrepancies.
* Manage disputed Claims and other material Claims issues in order to resolve and settle claims on an economic basis.

* Coaching and mentoring skills
* Extensive and relevant knowledge of claims handling in appropriate area
* Good working knowledge of QBE systems including Writeback and ECF
* Current knowledge of compliance, regulatory and statutory requirements
* Organisational, investigative, analytical and negotiation skills
* Ability to make balanced and impartial judgements
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Relationship Management skills
* Able to use MS Office applications and strong IT skills and an ability to interpret data
