Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Herd Manager/Herdsperson to join a well-established dairy farm in Mid Wales. This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in managing a high-performing, award-winning pedigree herd within a family-run business. The farm operates an intensive housed system, milking 1300 cows, three times a day, with a 50-point rotary and state-of-the-art cow housing and youngstock facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work closely with the farm owners, providing regular updates and playing a key role in decision-making for herd management practices.
* Oversee the dairy team, ensuring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are correctly followed and maintaining high standards of animal welfare.
* Liaise regularly with the on-farm vet and local veterinary practice to ensure the health and well-being of the herd.
* Collaborate with the farm’s nutritionist, providing feedback to optimize production.
* Drive efforts to maximize milk production while maintaining the highest welfare standards for the cows.
* Report monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track progress and ensure continuous improvement.
Requirements:
* Full clean driving license.
* AI (Artificial Insemination) trained.
* Proven experience in team management.
* Proficiency in farm management software, particularly Uniform Agri & Del Pro.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
* Extensive experience in dairy farming.
* Right to work in the UK (No sponsorship available)
