Drainage Operative * Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a skilled Drainage Operative with a strong background in drainage systems and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team, and will be responsible for maintaining and repairing drainage systems to a high standard.
Day to Day of the role: * Work both independently and as part of a team to carry out routine drainage activities.
* Interpret drawings and specifications to set out lines and levels accurately.
* Investigate drainage problems, determine solutions, and take appropriate action.
* Operate and use watercourse, sewer, and gully cleansing equipment, vehicles, and machinery safely.
* Supervise excavator operations and vehicles, ensuring adherence to safe digging techniques.
* Recognise hazards and dangerous work situations, implementing preventive measures.
* Use specialist safety equipment for working in or near sewers and manholes.
* Establish safe working areas, including traffic and pedestrian safety measures.
* Drive plant and vehicles as required and assist with the supervision and mentoring of trainees.
* Follow procedures and complete paperwork, such as waste disposal procedure and waste transfer notes.
Required Skills & Qualifications: * Minimum of 2 years experience as a Trainee Drainage Operative.
* CSCS Health & Safety Test Pass Certificate.
* Proficient in measurements and quantity calculations.
* Basic knowledge of construction specifications, materials, and workmanship requirements.
* Knowledge of construction Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
* Full Driving Licence.
* Willingness to operate plant and equipment and to undertake additional duties as required.
* Commitment to professional development, including working towards NVQ Level 2 in Highway Maintenance or similar.
* NRSWA accredited training is desirable.
