Job Title: Transport Planner
Location: Letchworth
Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday – various optional shifts – 7:30-5:30 or 8am-6pm or 10am-8pm
Salary: circa 30K
 
About the Opportunity:
 
My client is seeking 2 experienced Transport Planners to join a dynamic and growing team in Letchworth. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and organised individual who can manage the logistics of transportation effectively while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Key Responsibilities:
* Efficient Fleet Management: Maximise the utilisation of trucks and drivers, ensuring compliance with transport legislation, company policies, and Health & Safety regulations.
* Load Planning: Actively seek out loads and backloads for drivers to optimise routes and minimise empty miles.
* Driver Coordination: Manage driver schedules, hours, and adherence to Working Time Directive (WTD) rules. Monitor and support drivers in their daily tasks.
* Customer Service: Handle incoming calls, manage customer enquiries, and schedule jobs to ensure smooth operations.
* Data Management: Record and maintain accurate data for driver activities, fuel usage, and other relevant metrics.
* Route Planning: Develop efficient transport schedules, making the most of the company’s pallet network, dedicated fleet, and international logistics connections.
* Transport Modelling & Load Building: Plan groupage loads and utilise transport modelling techniques to enhance operational efficiency.
 
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Transport Coordinator or in a similar role.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of transport regulations, laws, and best practices.
* Skills: Excellent transportation planning and management skills, with a background in operations planning.
* Problem-Solving: Strong communication skills and the ability to think on your feet and solve problems under pressure.
* Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with Amazon platforms and Haulage Exchange is highly desirable.
 
Qualifications:
A Transport Manager’s CPC and knowledge of freight forwarding are beneficial but not essential.
