Job Title - Chief Underwriting Officer

Salary - £130,000

ROLE 
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO). The role is working for an established global insurer in our clients London underwriting team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in underwriting, operations and commercial insurance.
RESPONSIBILITIES 
*Develop and execute the underwriting strategy to achieve company goals and objectives
*Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, providing guidance and support in complex risk assessment and pricing decisions
*Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of underwriting processes with overall business operations
*Oversee the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures
*Monitor underwriting performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
*Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and innovation in underwriting practices
QUALIFICATIONS 
*Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
*10+ years of experience in underwriting and commercial insurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
*Proven track record of developing and implementing successful underwriting strategies
*Strong knowledge of underwriting operations, risk assessment, and pricing models
*Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
*Understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements
DAY-TO-DAY 
*Collaborate with senior leadership to set underwriting strategy and goals
*Provide leadership and guidance to underwriting team members
*Review and approve complex underwriting decisions
*Analyse underwriting performance metrics and develop action plans for improvement
*Stay updated on industry developments and best practices in underwriting
