The role:


Reporting to the Director of Actuarial Modelling & Valuations, the Head of Finance Business Development is a key leadership role to support the growth strategy, covering multiple products but with primary focus on annuity offerings.
The Head of Finance Life Business Development will be the key point of contact for the Life proposition and pricing teams. They will be responsible for co-ordinating all Finance technical input across multiple teams both within the Modelling & Valuation Centre of Excellence, as well as the other Centres of Excellence in Finance. The technical input will cover all relevant metrics to support the development and implementation of Life propositions, including actuarial methodology and assumptions and strategies to manage the portfolio.

Key responsibilities for this role:

* Lead the Life Business Development team to progress key growth initiatives by developing tactical and strategic solutions, assessing financial impacts and providing challenge where necessary in the proposition development process.
* Build and develop the capabilities of the Life Business Development team by providing guidance and coaching team members. Developing technical expertise in valuation of Bulk Purchase Annuities (and other relevant propositions), including matching adjustment, capital and reinsurance considerations.
* Manage expectations of key stakeholders in the business, including input to the planning and prioritising process, providing key insights to senior management and supporting smooth transitions to BAU.
* Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, challenging decisions where appropriate to ensure a successful programme outcome.
* Pro-actively lead to partner with the business and portfolio change lead to plan and design programmes that are aligned to the organisational strategy and deliver strategic outcomes with a focus on realising the benefits.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G plc’s operational risk.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience

* Qualified actuary with 10+ years of post qualification experience.
* Excellent knowledge of financial services, regulatory and legislative frameworks, including IFRS and Solvency II principles and associated external reporting and disclosure requirements.
* Experience of leading change including bringing new products to market. Significant experience of preparing financial information for the purposes of meeting internal and external reporting requirements.
* Excellent knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors. Highly desirable to have with-profits knowledge.
* Strong knowledge of the impact of governance, risk and compliance processes.
* Significant experience in understanding the wider business and distilling this information to provide understandable results to the business.
* Experience of delivering advanced financial findings and results to an audience with varying degrees of sophistication by breaking down complex information and challenging others to appropriately limit technical jargon.
* Experience of using understanding of the business linked with finance knowledge to support the business and of making recommendations and helping to originate creative solutions.
* Experience of leading teams to deliver under pressure and/or to tight timescales.
* Experience of translating vision and goals into clear, specific and achievable objectives, making the vision tangible for individual teams.
* Ability to produce high quality technical work whilst operating within a well-controlled environment.
* Confident in leading and facilitating complex and large-scale workshops with senior stakeholders.
* Strong attention to detail with an ability to anticipate, prioritise and resolve complex issues using a variety of problem solving and analytical skills to ensure the business outcome and benefits are realised.
