Job Title: SEN Lead
Location: Lambeth
Salary: £160 - £200 per day
Contract Type: Full time, Monday to Friday 8.30am until 4pm
Start Date: ASAP start
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Lead to join a large SEN Primary school. The successful candidate will lead our Special Educational Needs provision and ensure that all students with SEN receive the appropriate support to thrive academically and personally.
As SEN Lead, you will work closely with teachers, support staff, parents, external agencies, and the leadership team to develop and implement inclusive strategies and support systems that cater to the individual needs of students.
Key Responsibilities:
*Lead the SEN department and oversee the day-to-day provision for students with SEN.
*Develop, implement, and review the school’s SEN policy in line with current legislation and best practices.
*Identify students’ SEN through assessments, observations, and referrals from teachers and parents.
*Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and coordinate their implementation with teaching staff and support teams.
*Ensure all statutory requirements related to Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) are met and reviewed regularly.
*Provide advice, training, and support to staff on effective SEN strategies and inclusive teaching practices.
*Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure collaborative working and the best outcomes for SEN students.
*Monitor the progress and attainment of students with SEN and ensure interventions are timely and effective.
*Stay informed about current trends and legislation related to SEN and contribute to whole-school policies and initiatives.
Person Specification:
Essential:
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant qualifications.
*A strong understanding of SEN legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice.
*Proven experience working with students with SEN, including the development and management of IEPs and EHCPs.
*Ability to work collaboratively with parents, staff, and external professionals.
*Excellent organisational and communication skills.
*A commitment to promoting inclusive education and the ability to differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
Desirable:
*SENCo qualification or working towards achieving this.
*Experience managing a team and leading SEN initiatives in a school setting.
*Knowledge of specific interventions and resources for SEN students (e.g., speech therapy, autism support, etc.).
