Technical Support Engineer
A leading global manufacturer of passenger information systems for public transport is seeking a skilled Technical Support Engineer to join their expanding team. Specializing in innovative solutions for the transport industry, this company designs, develops, and manufactures cutting-edge technology at their headquarters in Lewes, East Sussex, while also operating internationally with offices and partners around the world.
This role is an exciting opportunity to work in a company at the forefront of technological change, where you will be involved in everything from on-site installations and repairs to remote troubleshooting and customer support.
Responsibilities:
*Attend various customer sites across the UK to perform installations, repairs, surveys, and upgrades of equipment.
*Answer technical queries via email, phone, and video conferencing platforms such as Teams.
*Configure equipment and prepare media content using bespoke software tools.
*Collaborate with sales, R&D, and production teams to resolve issues and improve product performance.
*Provide first-line support on products, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
*Carry out site evaluations and offer suggestions for improvements.
*Deliver training to customers on in-house software and hardware solutions.
*Participate in team meetings and occasional travel to the head office in Lewes.
Requirements:
*Ability to work independently or as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility in problem-solving.
*Experience in repairing electrical and electronic devices (soldering, cable repairs, crimping).
*Full UK driving license and willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally abroad.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office packages.
*Familiar with networking and serial protocols.
*A well-organized approach to tasks, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
*Comfortable with overnight stays away from home when required.
Desirable Skills:
*Experience with serial communication standards and protocols.
*Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
*Understanding of electrical and electronic system design (circuit diagrams, wiring).
*Previous technical support experience, especially in the public transport or manufacturing sectors.
