Company: A well-established Global Logistics Business
Position: Freight Forwarding Supervisor - Ocean Freight
Location: Manchester city centre (hybrid working available)
Salary: up to £38,000 DOE
Role Overview: Reed is delighted to be working in partnership with a global logistics business who are now looking to recruit a Freight Forwarding Supervisor on a permanent basis. As a Freight Forwarding Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our client’s ocean freight services. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing day-to-day freight operations, managing a dedicated team, and maintaining high standards of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
*Team Leadership & Development: Lead and inspire a team of freight professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment
*Operational Oversight: Monitor and manage freight operations across air and ocean, ensuring timely and accurate execution of shipments
*Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and resolving any issues promptly
*Performance Metrics: Track KPIs, analyse performance data and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
*Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, customs requirements, and documentation standards
*Problem Solving: Address operational challenges, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions
*Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (such as customs, warehousing, and transport) to optimise end-to-end logistics processes
Qualifications and Experience:
*Experience: Minimum of 3 years in freight forwarding, with a proven track record in supervisory roles
*Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of air freight and ocean freight operations
*Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and guide a team toward achieving operational excellence
*Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Attention to Detail: Meticulous in handling documentation and ensuring accuracy
*Problem Solving: Quick thinker with the ability to resolve complex logistics challenges
*Qualifications: Relevant certifications in logistics, supply chain, or related fields are advantageous
