Senior Practitioner
*Location: Leeds - Various
*Job Type: Full-time, rota basis including sleep-ins, early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
*Salary: £30,151 to £32,020 plus enhancements
My client is dedicated to making Leeds the best city for children and young people to grow up in. We are looking for a Residential Practitioner to join the team, supporting, encouraging, and safeguarding children and young people in their development.
This role is crucial in enabling them to make positive contributions to their families, society, and local communities.
Day to Day of the Role:
*Lead the residential practitioner team in supporting, encouraging, and safeguarding children and young people.
*Foster positive relationships based on shared daily life, routines, and established boundaries of acceptable behaviour.
*Implement care plans, conduct risk assessments, and devise support and health plans.
*Provide a safe, stimulating, and secure living and learning environment.
*Work with professionals and communities to sustain links and understand past problems.
*Nurture children’s ambitions and support their learning both in and out of school.
*Manage complex and challenging behaviour in a sensitive manner.
*Take on day-to-day management responsibilities, including staff deployment.
*Lead in the planning and delivery of opportunities for young people.
*Supervise and appraise staff, participating in recruitment and training processes as required.
*Administer medication and maintain accurate records in compliance with GDPR.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*NVQ/QCF Diploma Level 3 in Residential Child Care.
*QFC Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services Level 5 (or willingness to complete within 3 years, funded by the council).
*Ability to travel and work flexibly, including on a rota basis and outside standard hours.
*Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
*Proficiency in maintaining manual and digital records.
*Knowledge of relevant legislation, child and adolescent development, and safeguarding principles.
*Experience working with young people or vulnerable adults with emotional or behavioural difficulties.
*Supervisory experience and commitment to team development.
