Job Description:
Residential Practitioner
*Location: Leeds - Various
*Salary:£26,421 (based on full time) (depending on experience there is still a routeway into this role with a salary of £24,000 with some further training provided)
*Job Type: Full-time, rota basis including sleep-ins, early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
*Part time hours are also available!
My client is dedicated to making Leeds the best city for children and young people to grow up in. We are looking for a Residential Practitioner to join the team, supporting, encouraging, and safeguarding children and young people in their development.
This role is crucial in enabling them to make positive contributions to their families, society, and local communities.
Day to Day of the role:
*Act as a key worker, implementing care plans, conducting risk assessments, and devising support and health plans.
*Provide a safe, stimulating, and secure living and learning environment, supporting the day-to-day physical and emotional needs of children and young people.
*Work with professionals and communities of origin to sustain links and understand past problems.
*Nurture children’s ambitions for their future and their learning, both in and out of school.
*Support children and young people’s emotional, mental, and physical health needs to build self-esteem.
*Respect privacy while maintaining a duty of care, ensuring that living spaces are clean and safe.
*Provide appropriate levels of personal care for children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.
*Ensure all records are accurate, up to date, and GDPR compliant.
*Manage complex and challenging behaviour in an assertive, restorative, and sensitive manner.
*Work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies, families, and the wider public.
*Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Flexibility to travel and work across different locations.
*Availability to work on a rota basis, including sleep-ins, early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
*Ability to build relationships and actively engage with children and young people.
*Maintenance of accurate manual and digital records in accordance with GDPR.
*Skills in managing conflict and aggression using de-escalation techniques.
*Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent, or willingness to complete the qualification within 2 years of starting work.
*Good standards of literacy and numeracy.
*Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft packages.
*Recent experience working with young people or vulnerable adults who may have emotional or behavioural difficulties.
